Do you miss being a student ?

Yes .oftentimes ,I would like to miss the time when I was a student .I was much younger and more energetic when I was a university student .more importantly ,as a student ,I don’t need worry about things like making ends meet and the mortgage .I sometimes wonder if I could go back to the past and become a student again .

A Student Failed in Exam for Not Covering Nose

Masks ,which is a proven means of preventing the spread of the pandemic , has been a common equipment now in China for everyone walking outside their home .

In Japan ,however , a student was disqualified for continuing the university entrance examination , because the student violated the rules, not covering nose though the test-taker did wear a mask . The supervisor had told the student seven times to wear mask correctly which meant to cover nose , but the student ,for no reason, just refused to follow the instruction .

Consequently , the text -taker was driven out of the room , loosing the qualification for the examination which is widespreadly believed to be an crucial turning point for one 's life.

During the break today, a student asked me, my dear teacher, why does the West always emphasize freedom since ancient times?

I thought about it and told him:

Western liberal democracy only tells you what you can have, but does not tell you what obligations you need to fulfill.

Put aside the right to talk about the obligation is a rogue, put aside the obligation to talk about the right is shameless.

If all people only pursue rights, then, behind the rights of the duty and responsibility, who will perform?

So I researched for years how to become an A grade student.

I removed the self-limiting mindset that I wasn't clever enough to achieve incredible grades and do you know what happened? I started getting As for the first time in my life.

Exam after exam. Essay after essay. I kept performing in the top five percent of my class. I was no longer swimming against the tide. I was no longer depressed about going to school in the morning. I actually started to enjoy it. In fact, I loved it.

University was an incredible time in my life. A stark contrast from the dark depressing years of high school.

SOCRATES (苏格拉底) was a great thinker in ancient

Greece (古希腊).

He told his students on their first day of school, “Today we will learn only one

thing. It is the simplest thing to do.

Each of you will swing your arms

forward and then backward.”

Socrates showed his students the arm

swinging exercise. Then he told his students to start swinging their arms 300

times each day. “Do you think you can do it?” the teacher asked. Every studentlaughed and said, “Of course. It is so

simple.” So, all of the students promised to swing their arms every day.

A month later, Socrates asked the class, “Which one of you has been

persevering (坚持) in doing your daily arm swinging

exercise?” Everyone raised his hand

proudly. Another month went by.

Socrates asked the class the same

question,

but only 80 percent of the students

raised their hands. A year later,

Socrates asked

the class the question again. But this

time, only one student raised his hand.

This student was Plato(柏拉图)He later became a great thinker.
